An expanding hot topping compound of extremely high insulation value, also having low fume emission, low density and low carbon content.
Recommended Use As an anti-piping or hot topping compound on the feeder surface of all qualities of aluminium and copper base, especially where feeders require a high sensitivity compound. The low carbon content of the product will not normally affect metal quality in any significant way.
Purpose Anti-piping compounds are used to curtail the very considerable heat loss to atmosphere that can take place from uncovered feeders.
FERRUX* NF anti-piping compound is an exothermic material that is uniquely effective in the way it works. The product as supplied is of very low density and during the exothermic reaction it expands from its original volume, thus progressively increasing the overall insulation value still further.
The special advantages in terms of vastly increased long term insulation and economy of
application are clear; at the same time the product is virtually dust-free and produces
insignificant atmospheric smoke or fume while in use.
Advantages:
1. Extremely good thermal efficiency incorporating high initial output with excellent long term insulation.2. Low density giving economy of application.
3. Free flowing with low dust evolution.
4. High sensitivity indicating suitability for a wide range of feeder diameters.
5. Applicable to aluminium and copper based feeders.
Application Short pour the feeder(s) to the extent of about 2.5 cms and apply a 1.3 cm deep layer of
FERRUX* NF anti-piping compound immediately on completion of pouring. FERRUX* NF anti-piping compound does not dust readily and has excellent flowability, so that the feeder is easily provided with an even layer of compound.
